In Myrgorod, the fare has doubled to 20 UAH: why the city changed the tariff
In Myrgorod, Poltava region, the cost of public transport fare has increased from 10 to 20 UAH. The new tariff was approved by the executive committee on September 16. For comparison, in neighboring Poltava, as of August 25, buses cost 22 UAH, while trolleybuses cost 18 UAH. This is reported by Suspilne Poltava.
Why the fare in Myrgorod has increased to 20 UAH
Transport companies requested a tariff review back in February 2026. They provided the necessary calculations, which passed regulatory checks, after which the issue was presented to the executive committee.
In the city council, the increase in fare was explained by the rising cost of transportation. Over the past four years, the price of fuel, auto parts, tires, and materials needed for servicing buses has increased.
The transport companies' expenses for drivers' and repairmen's salaries have also risen. As a result, the previous tariff no longer reflected the actual expenses for the operation of public transport.
Similar reasons for tariff reviews this year are noted in other Ukrainian cities. For example, in Kropyvnytskyi, as of August 15, new tariffs have been established: 12–15 UAH for trolleybuses and 18–20 UAH for buses depending on the payment method.
How the cost of travel in Myrgorod has changed
The previous fare in Myrgorod was approved back in February 2022. At that time, the tariff was also increased exactly twice-from 5 to 10 UAH.
Since then, the cost of travel has not been reviewed for more than four years. After the new executive committee decision, one trip will cost 20 UAH, which is 10 UAH more.
For a passenger who uses public transport twice a day over 22 working days, the costs under the new tariff will amount to about 880 UAH per month instead of the previous 440 UAH.
The price increase in Myrgorod continues the trend of revising transport tariffs in Ukrainian cities in 2026. The main reasons cited by transport companies are more expensive fuel, components, repairs, and labor costs.
Recall that earlier Inkorr reported that in Kalush, transport companies proposed a tariff of 25 UAH due to the increase in transportation costs.
