Monaco Blast: Incident and Aftermath

According to Главком: On June 30, around 9:00 PM, an explosion occurred in a residential building on Rue du Révérend Père Louis Frolla in Monaco. Three members of a Ukrainian family were injured. Two parents are in critical condition, while their minor child is in serious but stable condition. The Monaco government has officially stated that the explosion was a deliberate act.

The incident happened as people were entering the building, located near the French border. According to the Monaco prosecutor's office, which is leading the investigation, security cameras captured an unknown man leaving a backpack at the building's entrance. After the blast, the suspect fled on foot toward the French town of Beausoleil. Monaco prosecutor Thibault Stéphane is overseeing the investigation into this crime.

Possible Targeted Attack on Ukrainian Oligarch

The explosion may have been an assassination attempt on Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Yermolayev, once listed among Ukraine's 100 richest people. Yermolayev renounced his Ukrainian citizenship in 2017 and now holds a Cypriot passport. In December 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky enacted a National Security and Defense Council decision imposing personal sanctions on Yermolayev for ten years. According to Ukraine's Security Service, he re-registered his alcohol business in Russian-occupied Crimea under Russian law.

Monaco authorities have not officially confirmed the assassination attempt theory. The investigation continues into an incident that has sparked widespread public and media attention.

This event highlights growing tensions between Ukraine and certain businessmen with close ties to Russia. The Monaco explosion could have serious implications for international relations and security, underscoring the need for thorough investigations into crimes that endanger lives. The situation surrounding Yermolayev, who is now under sanctions, may reflect the complex geopolitical and economic factors affecting the Ukrainian diaspora abroad.
