The Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko stated that the increase in coronavirus cases corresponds to seasonal indicators and does not pose an epidemic threat.

'We have an increase in COVID-19. However, we do not see either epidemic or pandemic potential in the strains that are currently circulating. The increase is similar to that of the previous year, but this is before the epidemic season,' said the minister in a television broadcast.

Lyashko emphasized that acute respiratory viral infections, including coronavirus, can have a complicated course in case of self-medication or if a person belongs to a risk group. He classified the elderly and people with chronic diseases as high-risk groups.

Readiness for quarantine restrictions

According to the minister, there are currently enough hospital beds, and there is no overload in infectious disease departments. Lyashko also noted that the introduction of quarantine restrictions is not currently planned; however, during the epidemic season, one should be prepared for such measures.

The situation with COVID-19 in Ukraine remains under the control of medical services, which continue to monitor the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the country.

The reports of the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko indicate that the situation with COVID-19 in the country is currently not critical but requires close monitoring and readiness for a possible exacerbation during the epidemic season. Medical services monitor the situation and are ready to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus if needed.
