Puzzle of Unity: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine now features the country as an interactive puzzle

What is Puzzle of Unity

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The interactive installation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has started working - a map of the country made up of 20 puzzle pieces. Each fragment introduces different regions of Ukraine through cultural and historical representations.

The project was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the public organization Port of Culture, with support from the European External Action Service (EEAS). The scientific consultant for the project is historian Oleksandr Fedorishen. The installation features works by Ukrainian artists - the Feldman sisters.

The Journey of the Project Around the World

The exhibition has already been shown abroad: at the EEAS headquarters in Brussels, as well as in the USA, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, and Chile. In 2026, the installation is planned to be opened in three more countries.

An information campaign launched for Ukrainian Statehood Day is being conducted on the pages of Ukrainian diplomatic missions and in the accounts of Ukraine.ua. It was prepared as part of the EU-Ukraine Strategic Communications Capacity Development Initiative, funded by the European Union.

The main idea of Puzzle of Unity is not only to introduce viewers to the culture and history of different regions of Ukraine, but also to strengthen international ties through art. The project helps to promote Ukrainian heritage abroad and to form a positive image of the country on the international stage. For Russian-speaking audiences, it is interesting as an example of cultural diplomacy that tells about national diversity through visual images.

The focus on cultural diplomacy is further exemplified by the recent launch of the U-Story platform in Kyiv, which aims to share Ukraine's resilience and cultural experiences with a global audience. This initiative complements the goals of the Puzzle of Unity project, showcasing how art and storytelling can foster international understanding and support for Ukraine's heritage.
