Arrest of Jonathan Gerlach in Pennsylvania

According to Главком: 34-year-old Jonathan Gerlach has been arrested in Pennsylvania, where over 100 human skulls and other remains were found in his home, some of which may belong to infants. Gerlach is suspected of stealing remains from cemeteries, including Mount Moriah Cemetery. The remains discovered in the house are believed to be over 100 years old.

Theft of Remains and Consequences

Between November 7, 2025, and January 6, 2026, 26 crypts were broken into or damaged at Mount Moriah Cemetery. Gerlach confessed to stealing approximately 30 sets of human remains from this cemetery. A total of 300 charges have been filed against Gerlach, including theft and abuse of a corpse. His bail is set at one million dollars.

Prosecutor Tanner Raus stated that as of now, detectives have discovered a large number of bones, and the investigation into their origin is ongoing. He said,

“we are still trying to figure out who they are, where they came from, and how many there are, and it will take a considerable amount of time before we get a final answer”

.

Raus also believes that the remains found in Gerlach's house were likely taken not only from Mount Moriah but also from other cemeteries.

This incident has sparked significant public outcry, as the theft of human remains is a serious crime that violates ethical and moral standards. The investigation continues, and detectives are trying to establish a connection between Gerlach and other possible crimes related to the theft of remains.
