According to ХВИЛЯ: A fire occurred in Korolev, Moscow region, at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Machine Engineering (TsNIIMash), which is the main institute of Roscosmos. According to the Telegram channel Exilenova+, it is likely that building No. 22, which is used for managing spacecraft, receiving telemetry, and supporting Russian space programs, is on fire. This building is part of the Flight Control Center complex, from where Russia controls its space missions.

TASS, citing emergency services, reports that the fire may have a man-made origin. Firefighters from the Moscow region have requested assistance from the capital's Ministry of Emergency Situations. In addition, Rosaviatsiya has restricted the operation of Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports immediately before the first reports of the fire.

TsNIIMash is also responsible for the development of the GLONASS satellite system and research in rocket and space technology. It is important to note that the institute has been under sanctions from the European Union, the USA, Canada, and other countries since 2022 for its involvement in the war against Ukraine.
