The Kyiv Circular Electric Train Will No Longer Sell Tickets

From January 1, 2026, the sale of tickets will be suspended on the Kyiv Circular Electric Train. Passengers will gradually be transitioned to a model already in use in other public transport in the capital: first purchasing a ticket, then validating it at the platform, and only after that traveling. This is reported by Kyiv City Express.

The service explains that the new rules aim to make the system clearer and more convenient for the city. Additionally, there will be enhanced control at departure stations, and ticket agents will perform the functions of controllers - similar to buses, trams, and the metro in Kyiv.

Kyiv Circular Electric Train: Where to Buy Tickets from 2026

Passengers will be able to purchase tickets in advance in several ways:

• through the Ukrzaliznytsia app;

• using the Kyiv Digital app;

• at self-service terminals of UZ and Kyiv Digital;

• through validators;

• cash at ticket offices at stations.

Tickets purchased through the "Kyiv Digital" app must be scanned at the orange validators. Eventually, this option will also be available for electronic tickets from the Ukrzaliznytsia app.

Why New Rules Are Being Implemented

Kyiv City Express notes that the new sales model will allow:

• to increase profitability without changing the fare;

• to reduce cash circulation and accelerate digitization;

• to obtain more accurate passenger flow analytics.

Passengers are asked to gradually get used to buying tickets in advance and plan their trips ahead to avoid inconveniences at the platform.

Let us remind you that at the end of December, the schedule for the Kyiv city electric train was changed due to repair work. Trains on the section SvYatoshyn – Darnytsia – SvYatoshyn via Pochayna will not be operating.
