Poland Launches Construction of World’s Longest Indoor Ski Slope Spanning 650 Meters

Indoor Ski Slope Project Underway in Babice, Poland

According to УНІАН — Туризм: Construction has begun in the village of Babice on a year-round indoor ski slope stretching 650 meters, potentially setting a new world record for the longest covered ski run. The initiative, led by entrepreneur Wacław Prorok, will also feature a variety of facilities including:

• a hotel
• an aquapark with both indoor and outdoor sections
• restaurants
• retail shops
• sports equipment rental points
• family-friendly relaxation areas

The ski pavilion will cover 27,000 square meters with slopes varying in steepness from 10 to 35 degrees.

Significance of the Development for the Region

Wacław Prorok, the project’s visionary, brings a strong sports background, having competed for the 'Górnik Zabrze' team and earned the Polish junior championship title in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Beyond athletics, he has been deeply involved in local football as a player, coach, and administrator. This major investment is set to boost regional tourism, create new employment opportunities, expand infrastructure, and enhance the reputation of the Wadowice municipality.

Local residents of Babice are optimistic about the project’s impact. Prorok remarked, 'Within a few months, a clear picture will emerge-not only regarding the final design of the slope.' One community member expressed,

'At the very least, all of Poland will know where Babice is.'

It’s important to note that the foundation work for the slope has already required clearing a significant area of forest.

This development marks a pivotal moment for tourism infrastructure in the area and is expected to raise national awareness of Babice.
