Чоловіка затримали у Польщі після нападу на українську касирку в магазині Żabka.

Incident at Żabka Store

According to Главком: A man has been detained in Poland on suspicion of committing a hate crime. The event unfolded at a Żabka convenience store, where the suspect shouted at a Ukrainian cashier and hurled insults at her. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison. The arrest took place in Gdańsk and was reported by Poland’s Minister of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, along with the Polish Central Cybercrime Bureau.

According to the Ukrainian cashier, the situation began when a man attempting to buy a lottery ticket directed offensive remarks at her. She recounted:

“In those 15 seconds, I heard a lot of filth directed at me-that I’m incompetent, stupid, a rag who should go back to Ukraine to tend chickens. I was so shocked that I couldn’t hold back my tears.”

Following the encounter, she decided to take action:

“I immediately wrote to the manager, called security, and started recording a video, stating that we would no longer serve this man.”

Government and Public Response

Kierwiński noted that the attacker was identified as a pseudo-football fan and emphasized a policy of 'absolute zero tolerance for aggression.' According to the Central Cybercrime Bureau, the detained individual is a Polish citizen. The incident has sparked widespread public debate, with the cashier stating that she

“feels completely unprotected and under constant stress.”

After the event, the woman contacted the police and filed an official complaint. She also admitted that there had been previous instances where intoxicated individuals were unhappy with her accent. Later, law enforcement authorities in Warsaw reached out to her to further the investigation.

This case highlights ongoing issues related to national hatred and discrimination that demand attention from both society and authorities.

The Żabka store incident underscores the importance of combating xenophobia and discrimination in modern society. The response from law enforcement and the interior minister demonstrates the seriousness with which authorities handle such situations. It is crucial that similar cases do not go unaddressed, as they can negatively impact the integration and coexistence of different nationalities within the country.

This recent incident is not isolated, as it follows another alarming case where four individuals were arrested for kidnapping and assaulting Ukrainian citizens in Poland. Such events underline the rising tension and hostility faced by the Ukrainian community, raising serious concerns about their safety and well-being in the country.
