A new centralized electronic system for making appointments with doctors will be implemented in Poland from the beginning of 2026, which will completely transform the registration process for patients. Users will be able to schedule their initial appointment online, and the system will automatically find available dates and send notifications. This is reported by inPoland.

Rules for Making an Appointment with a Doctor in Poland from January 1, 2026

The new system has been implemented after the law was signed by President Karol Nawrocki. It will allow patients to book appointments online through the IKP account on the pacjent.gov.pl website or in the mojeIKP application.

From January 1, online booking will be available for:

  • initial consultation with a cardiologist by electronic referral

  • preventive examinations: mammography and cytology

  • changing or canceling an appointment for initial and preventive consultations.

The system works on the principle that patients enter an electronic queue, and when a date that meets the specified criteria becomes available, they are automatically registered and notified via e-health.

When Will the List of Medical Specialties Expand

From the second half of 2026, online booking will become available for patients with vascular, infectious, endocrinological, hepatological, nephrological, and immunological diseases. The system will also cover cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, lung diseases, and the field of neonatology.

By the end of 2029, the new registration model will encompass all outpatient specialized medical care in Poland.

The reform of the registration system aims to reduce waiting times and unify access to doctors. However, some restrictions will remain: if a patient cancels a subsequent (contingent) appointment, they can only reschedule it directly at the medical facility, not online.
