Poltava Medical Center Begins Generating Its Own Electricity

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: The Poltava Regional Clinical Medical Center for Socially Dangerous Diseases has switched on its own solar power installation through the "Ray of Hope" initiative. The system has a total capacity of 68.8 kW, made up of 110 photovoltaic panels, two inverters, 15 battery storage units, and an associated battery management control system.

Energy from the station keeps vital departments running, including the radiology unit, laundry, regional pharmacology warehouse, medical archive, and the tuberculosis monitoring and response evaluation section.

Specialized Care and Greater Energy Independence

The facility treats people with tuberculosis, HIV, viral hepatitis, and other infectious diseases, seeing around 250 patients each day. It also operates its own heating plant to supply warmth through the colder months. For Ukrainian medical institutions, reliable energy supplies have become a major priority, making on-site generation increasingly important.

"Ray of Hope" was created jointly by the European Commission, Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, and Ukraine's Ministry of Health. It operates under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, with coordination from the Energy Community Secretariat. Since the beginning of the year, 41 medical institutions have launched their own electricity generation through the program - a sign of how important energy self-sufficiency has become for hospitals.

Bringing solar generation to the Poltava Regional Clinical Medical Center marks a significant move toward energy independence for Ukrainian medical institutions, particularly amid unstable electricity supply.

Beyond making essential hospital services more dependable, the project is expected to lower electricity costs and ease pressure on the institution's budget. Expanding this kind of initiative across the medical sector represents an important step in modernizing Ukraine's healthcare system.
