New public transport traffic rules introduced in Poltava
Starting from December 9, trolleys in Poltava will switch to a stable schedule and will no longer depend on hourly power outages. This decision became possible after the city carrier returned to the register of critical infrastructure. This was reported by the secretary of the Poltava City Council, Kateryna Yamshchikova.
Trolleys in Poltava will operate on a stable schedule
According to the secretary of the city council, Kateryna Yamshchikova, KP Poltavaelektroavtotrans has regained the status of a critical infrastructure entity. Last year, the enterprise was included in this list, but in 2025, some of its substations were removed from the list. Because of this, during power outages, trolleybus services were halted in various districts.
Previously, due to hourly schedules, residents faced a lack of transport in certain areas. In particular, trolleys temporarily ceased operation on:
-
Sinnea Street
-
Velykotyrnivskyi Street
-
Reshetylivskyi Street
-
towards the Levada microdistrict.
Poltava transitions to new transport traffic rules
The city is recording a difficult situation due to strikes on Ukraine's energy system, creating an electricity shortage. This has affected the schedule of public electric transport. With the enterprise's return to the critical infrastructure register, trolleybus services are expected to stabilize, and routes will operate without forced stops.
City authorities emphasize: the status of critical infrastructure allows for the provision of electricity to substations even during peak outages, which is expected to increase the predictability of transport services.
Previously, we reported that the fare for public transport in Poltava will increase in 2026.
