Public transport fares in Poltava have increased since August 25: how much do buses and trolleybuses cost now

Starting from August 25, 2026, new fare tariffs for city public transport have come into effect in Poltava. The cost of a bus trip has risen to 22 UAH, while the fare for a trolleybus is now 18 UAH. This is reported by 0532.ua.

The decision to change the tariffs was made by the executive committee of the Poltava City Council on August 24. The new fare is set as temporary.

What is the fare in Poltava since August 25

Passengers paying with the electronic 'Transport Card' can travel for less. They are entitled to a discount of 2 UAH:

• the bus with the transport card costs 20 UAH instead of 22 UAH;
• the trolleybus with the card costs 16 UAH instead of 18 UAH.

Moreover, the system provides for free transfers between city public transport routes. This can be used within 35 minutes after the first payment.

Why fares for public transport increased in Poltava

The issue of the new fare was initially to be discussed on August 19, but the executive committee meeting was postponed. Carriers explained the need to revise the fares due to rising costs for fuel, spare parts, and wages.

Before the decision was made, the carriers also warned that without increasing fares, the number of routes in the city could be reduced from August 25.

Thus, a regular bus trip in Poltava now costs 22 UAH, and a trolleybus trip costs 18 UAH. Owners of the transport card pay 20 and 16 UAH respectively and can take advantage of a free transfer within 35 minutes.

It should be noted that Poltava has begun the arrangement of five passenger stops for public transport. Contractors are preparing platforms along the route from the Sady-1 microdistrict to Almazna Street. About 6,000,000 UAH will be allocated from the community budget for these works.
