Proposal to Establish a Day for Ukrainian Women

According to ХВИЛЯ: A draft resolution (No. 15052) has been registered in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, proposing the establishment of a 'Day of the Ukrainian Woman.' The chosen date is February 25th, which marks the birthday of the renowned poetess Lesya Ukrainka. In 2024, the Ukrainian literary figure would have celebrated her 155th anniversary. This initiative seeks to formally recognize the immense contributions of women to the nation's identity and heritage.

This is not the first such proposal; a similar bill (No. 9009) was considered in 2023. The authors of the new initiative state its purpose is to create an alternative to traditions formed during the Soviet era. The draft resolution has already been submitted for consideration by the parliament's leadership.
