Boy Reported Missing in Rivne Region

According to Главком: A 10-year-old boy who had been missing since April 2 was found in the Rivne region. The child had fallen into a quarry, suffering multiple fractures, and was discovered on a hard-to-reach rock ledge. After being rescued, he was hospitalized and is no longer in life-threatening condition.

Search and Rescue Operation

The boy went missing in the village of Puhach in the Sarny district after he went out for a bicycle ride and failed to return home. His aunt reported his disappearance. The search, which lasted nearly a full day, involved a coordinated effort from:

  • Volunteers from the Klesiv and Sarny communities,
  • Police,
  • State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers,
  • National Guard soldiers,
  • Forestry workers.

Drones were deployed in the operation, and the search continued through the night.

The boy was eventually located in the quarry, where he had fallen from a height roughly equivalent to a five-story building. He was found lying on his stomach, conscious but unable to get down on his own. The child sustained fractures to his pelvis, arm, shoulder, and collarbone, as well as bruises and hematomas. He is currently receiving necessary medical care at a hospital in the city of Sarny.

This incident underscores the critical importance of organizing effective search operations when children go missing. The combined efforts of local communities, law enforcement, and rescue services, supported by modern technology like drones, can significantly improve the chances of a successful outcome in critical situations.

Fortunately, the boy was found alive, a testament to the coordinated work of all the search participants. Such search operations are a vital public safety function in regions with challenging terrain.
