In Rivne, terminals for ticket purchases are being installed at bus stops
In Rivne, plans are in place to completely eliminate cash payments directly in public transport. To allow passengers to purchase one-time tickets, special terminals are being installed at ten bus stops. The equipment is scheduled to launch on August 1. This is reported by Suspilne Rivne.
How ticket terminals will operate in Rivne starting August 1
Through the terminal, it will be possible to purchase a one-time ticket for cash or pay for it cashlessly using a QR code. The equipment will also allow for the topping up of the 'Rivne resident card'.
Thus, the elimination of cash payment on board does not mean that passengers will necessarily need a bank card. Money can be deposited into the terminal at the stop, and a ticket can be obtained before boarding the transport.
Technical connection of the equipment will begin at the end of July. According to the chief technologist of the operating company, Danil Chulkov, the terminals are planned to be activated on August 1, simultaneously with the transition to a cashless system for public transport.
Where ticket terminals will be installed in Rivne
New devices will appear at bus stops with high passenger traffic. In total, the city has identified ten locations:
Theatre Square;
Railway Station;
Independence Square;
Central Department Store;
Bus Station;
Boiarka;
Lutsk Ring;
one stop in Kvasyliv;
two stops near the market.
Another 80 terminals are already operational in retail points in Rivne. Altogether, after the launch of the new network, passengers will have access to 90 locations where they can purchase a one-time ticket or top up their transport card.
The transition to a cashless system is expected to speed up boarding and reduce the turnover of money in the cabins. At the same time, passengers will have to purchase tickets in advance or use other electronic payment methods.
It is worth noting that in Rivne, a 10-year-old boy died during a fire in an apartment.
