In Russia, sales of alcoholism treatment drugs have soared

Russian pharmacy chains also confirmed the growing demand for alcoholism treatment drugs. Sales increased by 29% in physical terms and by 48% in monetary terms in the first half of this year compared to the same period a year ago. This increased demand is due not only to the relatively low prices of the drugs but also to changes in legislation regarding the transfer of patient data to the state information system in the healthcare sector.

According to the analytics company RNC Pharma, Russian citizens increased their purchases of drugs for the treatment of alcoholism by 13.5% from April to June 2025 compared to the previous year. In monetary terms, this amounted to 539.6 million rubles, which is 37.8% more than a year ago.

The rise in demand for alcoholism treatment drugs in Russia indicates a worsening problem of alcohol dependence among the population of the country. The increased interest in these drugs may also be linked to changes in the legal framework and contribute to the fight against this harmful addiction.
