Romania's Planned Suspension Bridge Project

According to УНІАН — Туризм: A contract has been signed in Romania to design and build a suspension footbridge spanning the Rebra River valley near the village of Parva, located in the Transylvania region. The new structure will measure roughly 620 meters in length and reach a maximum height of 300 meters. Total investment in the project is estimated at over 23.8 million lei-approximately 4.55 million euros.

Situated about 45 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, the bridge has the potential to become one of Romania's most striking tourist attractions. Ioan Strugari, the mayor of Parva commune, commented:

'This is another dream come true, one that will transform Parva from a little-known settlement into an appealing destination for young people.' Ioan Strugari, Mayor of Parva Commune

He also stressed that 'a lack of development leads over time to the gradual disappearance of rural communities.' The bridge will rise in one of the most scenic areas of the Carpathian Mountains and could claim the title of the tallest bridge in Europe. Local authorities also plan to hold a public consultation to choose the bridge's name, a move that will involve the community in this major project.

Economic Impact on the Region

Building a suspension bridge over the Rebra River will not only enhance regional infrastructure but could also serve as a key driver of economic growth for Parva and its surroundings. Because the bridge sits in a tourism-friendly area, its completion may boost visitor numbers, which in turn would benefit the local economy and create new jobs.

Involving the community in selecting the bridge's name further highlights the importance of resident participation in the development of their own area.
