Transformer school in the Kherson region
Унікальний навчальний заклад для дітей з'явиться у Херсонській області: деталі проекту.

A modern school is planned to be built in the village of Posad-Pokrovske in the Kherson region, which will combine the functions of an educational institution, a kindergarten, and an open space. It will be built on the site of the school destroyed by the Russians in 2022.

The school project is developed by the full-cycle urban bureau Big City Lab, with Pavlo Pekar as the chief architect. It will be constructed as part of the comprehensive restoration of the war-affected settlements.

“The resilience of the community is defined by its people. Therefore, the restoration of frontline territories must not be formal, but substantial: with security, modern education, accessible services, and spaces for interaction. Despite the destruction suffered, we must create conditions that will motivate people to stay and build the future at home.”

Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba stated.

The new space will be accessible to the entire community. Locals will be able to use the assembly hall for events and gatherings, a gymnasium, and a co-working library. The school cafeteria will be arranged in the format of a modern cafeteria - with the possibility of dining both indoors and outdoors. In addition, the school will have an oven for baking bread - an important need for the community, as there is no bakery in the village.

A new school for children

The school is planned with barrier-free solutions in mind. It will consist of five blocks: a central building with common spaces, a kindergarten, primary school, gymnasium, and sports hall. The facility will include a radiation shelter.

The entire space is designed around the needs of the child. Students will learn through practice and research - thanks to a natural science laboratory, a technology classroom, and an informatics room. Single desks will allow for easy and quick rearrangement.

The new modern school in the village of Posad-Pokrovske will be an innovative educational institution built on the site of the destroyed school. This project aims to create comfortable conditions for learning, children's development, and community self-development as a whole. The urban bureau Big City Lab is responsible for this initiative, aiming to update the war-affected settlements and engage residents in actively participating in shaping their future.
