The Department of Efficiency of the USA under Musk has ceased operations: what happened

The Department of Efficiency of Government (DOGE), created under the administration of Donald Trump and led by Elon Musk, has effectively ceased its activities. According to Reuters, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management reported that DOGE is no longer operational.

The Director of the Office, Scott Cooper, told Reuters that the Department no longer exists in a centralized form. The closure of DOGE came eight months earlier than planned in the U.S. presidential decree, which was set for July 2026.

Transfer of Responsibilities

Despite this, Trump and his team had previously indicated the disappearance of DOGE in the summer of 2025. Several key personnel from the Department remain employed at the White House in other positions, and the responsibilities of DOGE have transferred to the Office of Personnel Management.

This Department was created with the goal of optimizing the operations of federal agencies and fulfilling Trump's priorities. However, conflict with the president led to its cessation of operations.

As a result, DOGE has ceased operations, although it was originally planned to occur a year later. The responsibilities of the Department have now been redistributed to other management divisions, while other personnel continue to work in new positions, specifically in the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
