Gymnastics coach in the USA sentenced to 10 years for filming children in the bathroom
According to glavcom.ua: In Utah, a trial has been ongoing against a gymnastics coach who attempted to use his status for the sexual exploitation of children. 35-year-old Adam Richard Jacobs was sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of the 'Safe Childhood' program designed to combat such crimes.
The coach set up hidden cameras in men's and women's restrooms at the sports club, as well as in hotels and bathrooms during competition trips. He filmed over 120 videos, which he used for his own sexual purposes.
“I betrayed the trust of those I was supposed to protect and used these images for my own sexual gratification,” Jacobs admitted his guilt before the court.
This plea agreement allowed some charges against him to be dropped. In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, Jacobs was given lifelong supervision for his crimes. However, this may not be the final decision, as sentences were reviewed by different judges, and additional punishment may be forthcoming.
A pedophilia scandal in the sports world has provoked outrage and led to serious consequences for the coach who used his position to commit horrific crimes. He faced serious charges, and as a result of the trial, he received imprisonment and lifelong supervision. The case may continue due to the possibility of additional penalties from other judicial authorities.
