On Saturday, August 15, 2026, free travel for passengers in embroidered shirts will be introduced in Ternopil. The initiative will last throughout the City Day in public and private transport. This is reported by the Ternopil City Council.

Both local residents and guests of the community will be able to take advantage of the benefit. The only condition for free travel is to be dressed in an embroidered shirt, a national shirt, or other traditional clothing.

What transport in Ternopil will be free for passengers in embroidered shirts on August 15

The initiative will apply to all municipal public transport. Passengers in national attire will not have to pay for trips:

  • on trolleybuses;

  • on municipal buses;

  • on private buses;

  • on route taxis.

Free travel will be provided by municipal enterprises "Miskavtotrans" and "Ternopilelektrotrans". Private carriers operating within the Ternopil community will also join the initiative.

To conduct the initiative, the Department of Transport Networks and Communications of the City Council approved the corresponding memorandum with the carriers.

When will free travel in Ternopil be available again in August 2026

Passengers in embroidered shirts will be able to use public transport again without payment on August 24, when Ukraine celebrates Independence Day.

Thus, the benefit will be available on two festive days in August:

  • August 15 - on the City Day of Ternopil;

  • August 24 - on Independence Day of Ukraine.

On other days, passengers will pay for trips according to the current city tariffs. Free travel for people in embroidered shirts is a traditional initiative of Ternopil aimed at supporting Ukrainian culture and national clothing.

 

Let us remind you, a new wave of social support starts in Ternopil: a thousand residents from vulnerable categories will receive free food packages.
