Drunk Driver Flees Police in Vinnytsia, Causing Fatal Crash
Deadly Road Incident in Vinnytsia
According to Главком: A drunk driver in Vinnytsia has been arrested after ignoring a police order to stop, fleeing the scene, and crashing into a street sweeper. Tragically, the 55-year-old driver of the street sweeper was killed instantly in the collision, which occurred during the night of March 6th while a curfew was in effect. This incident highlights the severe dangers of drunk driving, especially under wartime restrictions.
Patrol officers first noticed a Toyota Land Cruiser on 600th Anniversary Street and signaled for it to stop. The 25-year-old driver disregarded the officers' command and attempted to escape. His flight ended on Magistratska Street when he collided with the street cleaning vehicle.
A 25-year-old passenger was also inside the Toyota Land Cruiser. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison, along with a five to ten-year driving ban.

This tragedy follows other recent fatal accidents in the region, including a crash on March 4th near the village of Sokyrnytsi in Vinnytsia district involving a passenger car and a truck with a semi-trailer, which claimed the life of a 59-year-old Seat Ibiza driver.
The incident underscores persistent and serious problems on Ukraine's roads, particularly related to driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying law enforcement.
