Zaporizhzhia Unveils Metal Map of Ukraine Bearing Names of the Missing

A Memorial Map Dedicated to the Missing

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: A metal outline of Ukraine, created as a tribute to soldiers who went missing under special circumstances, has been installed at the Alley of Memory of Fallen Heroes in Zaporizhzhia. The project is intended to keep attention focused on their fate and to support families who are still waiting for any news about their loved ones.

More than a hundred metal tokens carrying the names and surnames of missing defenders were placed on the memorial. Relatives and close friends of the unaccounted-for soldiers contributed these tags. The centerpiece of the composition is a stylized metal map of the country. The memorial will remain at the Alley of Heroes, and additional tokens can be added to it in the future.

A year ago, many of the families I now see here joined us in raising “flags of hope.” I truly want to believe that those who set up those flags have since been reunited with their own people-and that those still waiting have kept their hope and faith alive while taking care of themselves. This map reflects the toughness of our character, the strength of our memory, and our resilience.

After the ceremony, families of the missing defenders and other guests were invited to watch the Ukrainian historical film “Dovbush.” This gathering marked an important moment in honoring those who gave their lives for Ukraine and in standing alongside their relatives in a time of grief.
