Geneva Negotiations Underway

According to Главком: A new round of three-way talks aimed at ending the war is taking place in Geneva on February 17-18, 2026. The agenda for these meetings includes security, humanitarian, and territorial matters. The Kremlin has officially confirmed that territorial aspects will be raised during the discussions, highlighting the critical nature of this phase in the peace process. These talks represent a significant diplomatic effort to resolve a conflict that has persisted for years.

In the lead-up to the meetings, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with representatives of Donald Trump, Stephen Witoft and Jared Kushner. This underscores Ukraine's active diplomatic engagement ahead of the Geneva negotiations.

Composition of the Ukrainian Delegation

The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, stated:

“We have a framework for our work and a clear mandate approved by the President of Ukraine. The agenda includes security and humanitarian issues. We are working constructively, with focus and without excessive expectations. Our task is to advance as far as possible those decisions that can bring a sustainable peace closer.”

The Ukrainian delegation includes:

  • Head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov
  • First Deputy Head of the President's Office, Serhiy Kyslytsya
  • Head of the parliamentary faction Servant of the People, David Arakhamia
  • Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Vadym Skibitskyi

The high-level composition of this team demonstrates Ukraine's serious approach to conducting these international negotiations.

This round of talks occurs against the backdrop of prolonged efforts by both sides to achieve a peaceful settlement of the multi-year conflict. Ukraine seeks to resolve humanitarian issues and ensure security for its citizens, while Russia emphasizes territorial aspects. The Geneva negotiations could become a pivotal milestone in the process of achieving stable peace in the region, provided the parties can find compromise solutions. The involvement of US representatives adds another layer to these complex diplomatic efforts.
