In Zhytomyr, public transport schedule changed during school holidays

In Zhytomyr, during the school holidays, the city public transport will operate with longer intervals. The changes will be in effect from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, and are related to a decrease in passenger flow. The Zhytomyr City Council writes.

The city council explained that during this period, transport will operate according to weekend schedules. The decision was made based on the transport and communications department’s proposal, considering the school holidays and the traditional decrease in passenger numbers at the end of the year.

Public transport in Zhytomyr: how buses will operate

Arkadiy Savitsky, the director of the private enterprise «Sheriff», noted in a comment to local media that all buses, including those of private carriers, will operate during this period with longer intervals than on weekdays. They will essentially function in weekend mode.

According to information from passengers and carriers, changes have already affected some routes:

  • Buses No. 19 and No. 110 will operate on the weekend schedule starting December 27, 2025;

  • Route No. 25 will operate with extended intervals from December 31 to January 4.

Operation of trolleybuses and trams: what is known

Regarding municipal transport, including trolleybuses and trams, the final information is still being processed by the city's transport and communications department. The city council reported that additional clarifications will be announced separately after the schedules are agreed upon.

Residents are advised to plan their trips in advance and consider possible delays due to the increased vehicle intervals.

It is worth noting that in Zhytomyr, on December 26, the farewell was held for 4-year-old Kristina Solovyova, who died on December 23 during the shelling of the city.
