Stability for Ukraine's National Team Manager

According to Главком: Andriy Shevchenko, President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), has stated that the organization is not currently considering replacing the head coach of the national team, Serhiy Rebrov. Rebrov, who took charge in June 2023, retains his position despite the team's failure to advance from the group stage at Euro 2024 and their inability to secure promotion to League A of the Nations League. The Ukrainian national team has faced significant challenges in recent years, making managerial stability a key topic for fans and pundits alike.

Serhiy Rebrov's contract with the UAF is valid until July 31, 2026. During the winter break, he visited the training camp of the Donetsk club Shakhtar in Turkey, demonstrating his active efforts to improve the squad. In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ukraine is set to face Sweden in a playoff semi-final on March 26, 2026. A victory would see them advance to the playoff final against the winner of the Poland vs. Albania match.

“We are not considering replacing Serhiy Stanislavovych at this time, so he can continue his work with confidence.”

Future Challenges for Ukraine

The atmosphere around the Ukrainian national team remains tense following their disappointing performance at Euro 2024. However, the decision to continue with Rebrov suggests the UAF's intent to provide the coach with time to implement his long-term vision and strategies. The upcoming match against Sweden represents a crucial test for the team, as a win would open the path to the playoff final and a chance to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
