Electricity Supply Situation in Ukraine

According to Главком: Ongoing strikes on energy infrastructure, combined with harsh weather, have left many Ukrainian households without power. Blackouts resulting from shelling have been recorded in five regions, while over 100 towns and villages across ten regions are experiencing outages due to adverse weather conditions.

Power cuts caused by attacks on the energy system have been reported in the following areas:

  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Odesa
  • Sumy
  • Kharkiv

The situation remains critical in these regions as shelling continues to damage power facilities. Additionally, strong winds and precipitation have knocked out electricity for residents in more than 100 settlements across ten regions. The regions affected by weather-related blackouts include:

  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Zhytomyr
  • Donetsk
  • Kirovohrad
  • Mykolaiv
  • Poltava
  • Sumy
  • Cherkasy
  • Chernihiv
  • Kyiv

The Ministry of Energy has urged consumers to use electricity sparingly during evening hours, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, whenever possible. This measure is intended to reduce strain on the power grid. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need for protection, stating:

"Every critical facility must be safeguarded."

Ukraine's electricity supply remains under significant pressure, and authorities are calling for public cooperation to help maintain grid stability.

This situation highlights the vulnerability of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, particularly amid ongoing military conflict and extreme weather events. Calls for conservation and state-level resilience plans reflect efforts to mitigate the impact on consumers. Effective coordination across all levels of government is essential to ensuring the country's energy stability.
