Situation with the State Security Administration and NABU

According to Главком: The State Security Administration is resisting the employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau during investigative actions in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. SBU employees are restricting NABU detectives' access from the European Square in Kyiv. Head of the SBU Oleksiy Morozov confirmed that the administration does not resist NABU employees, but noted that the names of the people trying to enter the government quarter are not in the court ruling.

According to the Criminal Procedure Code, the witnesses should be random people; however, according to Morozov, these people are deliberately brought through the checkpoints of the government quarter. He also stated that

“let's note that obstructing investigative actions is a direct violation of the law”

by NABU. Oleksiy Morozov emphasized that work is currently underway to identify these individuals.

“We are taking measures to verify and establish their identities and check who they are”

, he noted.

Human Rights Aspects and Public Trust

Morozov added that “these people are brought in 'from outside the government quarter, but there is a procedure for admission; typically, orders are made'.” This situation raises concerns as it may affect the human rights aspects of law enforcement activities in Ukraine.

The current situation underscores the tension between law enforcement agencies and state institutions, particularly in the context of the fight against corruption. It is essential for all participants in the investigative actions to adhere to the legislation, as their interaction influences public trust in law enforcement agencies. The ongoing events may serve as a significant test for the justice system in Ukraine and its ability to ensure transparency and accountability in the investigation of corruption crimes.
