In the Champions League, the draw that determined the venue for playoff matches has been canceled. This was reported by Glavkom citing AS. UEFA has changed the format of playoff matches in European cups. Previously, a draw was held to determine the hosts of playoff matches. Now the hosts and guests will be determined based on the positions occupied by clubs in the general stage of the European cup. The team from the pair that finished higher in the overall stage will play the match at home. These changes will apply to all three European cups.

The 'seed' position is transferred to the winning team if it defeats a club that placed higher in the overall stage.

For example, in the quarterfinals of last year's Champions League, 'Arsenal', which finished in third place in the overall stage, played against 'Real', which was 11th. If 'Real' had won, the venue for the semifinal matches would have been determined as if the Madrid club had finished in third place in the overall stage. UEFA made this change so that the position in the overall stage of European cups would carry more significance. Club World Cup.
