Electricity imports from the EU will increase to 2300 MW: when will this happen
In December 2025, Ukraine expects an increase in electricity supply from the European Union to 2300 megawatts from 2100. According to the head of 'Ukrenergo' Vitaliy Zaychenko, agreements have been made with European system operators regarding the increase of the available amount of imported electricity. This will allow for support at any time.
«We continue to work with our European partners on increasing electricity imports. Currently, 2100 megawatts are not usable due to internal restrictions in the energy system,» Zaychenko stated.
It was previously reported that it was about increasing the maximum import capacity of electricity into Ukraine, but due to damage to internal networks, the country cannot utilize the available capabilities.
Summary: Ukraine expects an increase in electricity supply from Europe to 2300 megawatts from 2100, thanks to agreements with European operators. However, due to internal restrictions in the energy system, it has not yet been possible to fully utilize the available capacities.
