Ukraine in Active Discussions with the United States and Raytheon

According to 5 канал: As Ukraine continues to defend against aerial threats, boosting domestic production of advanced interceptors has become a strategic priority. The country is currently in active negotiations with the United States and defense contractor Raytheon to increase missile deliveries for the Patriot air defense system and to establish joint manufacturing of these systems within Ukraine. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi disclosed this after meeting with Raytheon leadership, a session that also included acting Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara.

During the talks, the Ukrainian delegation met with a Raytheon team headed by the company’s vice president for land and air defense and the managing director of Raytheon Ukraine. The agenda focused on accelerating shipments of Patriot missiles, expanding production capacity, and reinforcing the capabilities of Ukraine’s domestic defense industry. Special emphasis was placed on localizing weapons manufacturing, particularly the co-production of air defense systems.

Bilateral Cooperation Between Ukraine and the United States

This same issue was broached by the presidents of Ukraine and the United States during their meeting in Ankara. The American side put forward specific measures to move the project forward. U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed his country’s willingness to issue licenses for the production of Patriot systems in Ukraine.

The PAC-3 variant, designed to intercept ballistic missiles, costs approximately $5 million per unit and is currently manufactured only in the United States and Japan.

Additionally, Ukraine is set to obtain manufacturing licenses for French SCALP missiles, AASM bombs, and, in partnership with Italy, Aster 30 missiles. These steps reflect Ukraine’s ambition to strengthen its defensive posture by building a domestic capacity to produce modern air defense weapons.

The ongoing negotiations among Ukraine, the United States, and Raytheon highlight the critical role of defense collaboration amid the enduring conflict. Boosting missile supplies and fostering local arms production could substantially improve Ukraine’s defensive strength and cut its reliance on foreign sources. This effort also serves U.S. strategic goals of promoting stability in the region by backing its allies.

As Ukraine forges ahead with plans for joint manufacturing of advanced missile systems, the recent announcement by Trump regarding missile production in Ukraine underscores the strategic collaboration between the two nations. This initiative not only aims to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities but also reflects a broader commitment to fostering local production of critical military technology.
