Roadmap for Integration into the European Research Area

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved the Roadmap for Integration into the European Research Area, planned until 2027. This document aims to adapt Ukrainian science to EU standards, which involves a number of important changes in the country's scientific sector.

The Roadmap for Integration into the European Research Area was developed with the participation of 40 government representatives and scientists. An important stage in its creation was consultations with European experts from the TAIEX mission, which took place in December 2025. According to Article 375 of the Association Agreement with the EU, integrating science is a key area of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.

Key Areas of Change in Ukrainian Science

Among the main changes awaiting Ukrainian science, seven key areas can be highlighted:

  • Open science, which entails access to scientific data and publications.
  • Development of infrastructure to facilitate research at the international level.
  • Careers and mobility of scientists, allowing Ukrainian researchers to gain practical experience in European scientific institutions.
  • Reform of the evaluation of scientific results to help improve the quality of research.
  • Integration of science with business, promoting technology transfer and innovations.
  • Integration of science with education to ensure training of specialists that meet modern requirements.
  • Scientific diplomacy, which will allow Ukraine to strengthen international scientific ties.

These changes aim to enhance not only the competitiveness of Ukrainian science but also to promote its integration into the European scientific space.

The approval of the Roadmap for Integration into the European Research Area is a significant step for Ukraine in the context of eurointegration. It allows Ukrainian scientists and institutions to adapt to European standards, which in turn will contribute to improving the quality of research and its practical implementation.

Implementation of the mentioned changes can significantly enhance the international competitiveness of Ukrainian science, which will be an important factor for its further development.
