Ukraine started the year with a series of transplants

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: During the first 10 days of the year, several organ transplants were performed in Ukraine, made possible by the decision of donors' relatives and the coordinated work of medical teams. In this short period of time, transplants were carried out for more than a dozen patients, indicating an activation of the transplantation program in the country.

Among the donors was a 45-year-old man who sustained injuries incompatible with life. His organs were used for transplants, including his heart, which was received by a 38-year-old man from Vinnytsia, who had been waiting for the operation for over 2 years. This marked a significant event, as Vinnytsia doctors conducted a heart transplant independently for the first time.

Successes in transplantation in Ukraine

Meanwhile, in Zaporizhzhia, where the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital is the only hospital in the southeast of Ukraine, significant successes were also achieved in the field of transplantation. A 51-year-old woman became a donor, and the donor kidneys were transplanted to a 31-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man. It is important to note that kidneys were also transplanted to a 59-year-old and a 50-year-old man, who had been on dialysis for over 2 years.

The donor heart for the Vinnytsia resident was transported from Kyiv to Zaporizhzhia, indicating a well-established logistics system for transplants in Ukraine. In Lviv, a 32-year-old man from Ivano-Frankivsk became a donor, and a heart was transplanted to a 53-year-old man with the highest urgency status at the Lviv Medical Association. The same city also saw kidney transplants for a 46-year-old patient and liver transplants for a 61-year-old man.

Furthermore, at the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital, a kidney was transplanted to a 41-year-old man. The condition of all patients who received organs is stable, which is positive news for medical teams and patients waiting for transplantation.
