Ukraine Calls on Netherlands to Bring Forward €2 Billion in Military Assistance

The money would go toward surface-to-air missile purchases and the production of drone interceptors. The Netherlands allocates €3 billion annually from its national budget to military support for Ukraine. The Dutch government has previously moved up the use of reserved funds. For instance, in summer 2026, Defense Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced that €437 million originally planned for later periods would be released earlier.

This summer, the Netherlands committed €580 million to purchase drones and air defense systems for Ukraine. Of that amount, €250 million is earmarked for drones from Dutch defense firms, while the rest will be channeled through the PURL initiative to supply American-made weapons, according to De Volkskrant.
