All Women in Ukraine Now Free to Travel Abroad as Government Lifts Exit Restrictions

Border Crossing Rules Updated

According to Главком: Starting May 20, 2026, Ukraine has fully removed all travel restrictions for women leaving the country, following amendments to the national border crossing regulations. These changes were enacted through Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 623, adopted on May 15, 2026. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has announced that women can now exit the country without needing to present any additional documentation.

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko confirmed that the lifting of border restrictions applies to all women, regardless of their professional roles. This includes women holding positions in state authorities, local governments, state-owned enterprises, the judiciary, and law enforcement agencies. Previously, under Cabinet Resolution No. 69 from January 27, 2023, women in these categories faced limitations on international travel.

New Regulations and Their Impact

Under the updated rules, border guards will no longer require female civil servants to show official travel orders when crossing for personal reasons. The State Border Guard Service has already begun implementing these measures at checkpoints.
