The meeting's focus is on establishing the terms for ending the war and the framework for a future negotiation process. The Ukrainian delegation has already held meetings with representatives from the US administration and Russian security officials.

Delegation Members

The Ukrainian delegation includes:

  • Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), Kyrylo Budanov
  • Head of the "Servant of the People" parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia
  • Permanent Representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya

Participating from the American side are:

  • Jared Kushner
  • Josh Gruenbaum
  • General Daniel Driscoll
  • General Alex Grinkevich

Russia is being represented at the meeting by officials from its military intelligence and army.

The talks are scheduled to continue into the next day, with the Ukrainian group expected to be reinforced by military command. Joining the Ukrainian delegation will be:

  • Chief of the General Staff, General Andrii Hnatov
  • Deputy Chief of the GUR, Lieutenant General Vadym Skibitskyi

Rustem Umerov noted that following each stage of the talks, a report is made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

These negotiations occur against the backdrop of the protracted conflict in Ukraine and could mark a significant step in the search for a peaceful resolution. The involvement of US representatives underscores the international community's vested interest in the situation and efforts to find a compromise acceptable to all parties. The outcome of these talks may influence the strategic landscape in the region and shape the next steps in diplomatic efforts to end the war. The meeting in Abu Dhabi represents one of the few direct channels of communication between the warring parties since the full-scale invasion began.
