The President of Ukraine has signed the Law 'On Ratification of the Agreement on the Establishment of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)'. This finally secures Ukraine's membership in this organization and opens new opportunities for the development of the national fisheries sector, reports the Government Portal.

Joining the GFCM will ensure Ukraine's right to participate in the decision-making regarding the management of fish stocks, implement modern standards for the preservation of marine ecosystems, and benefit from international scientific advancements in the field of fisheries. Membership in the Commission will help strengthen Ukraine's integration into the European fisheries space, expand cooperation with international partners, and enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian fish products in foreign markets.
