Signing agreements between Ukraine and Finland
Фінляндія та Україна підписали угоди на 300 мільйонів євро для розвитку супутникових технологій та енергетичної підтримки.

Enhancing Ukraine-Finland Partnership

According to Рубрика — Політика: Ukraine and Finland have formalized seven cooperation agreements totaling €300 million. Announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following talks with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, this package focuses on expanding Finnish satellite technology applications and strengthening Ukraine’s logistics and energy infrastructure.

Under the agreements, Finnish company ICEYE, known for its constellation of small SAR satellites, will increase its operations in Ukraine. These satellites provide high-resolution Earth imaging regardless of weather or lighting conditions, making them invaluable for security and situational awareness. In 2022, the Prytula Foundation acquired an ICEYE satellite for Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, while one of two satellites purchased for the Main Intelligence Directorate continues to operate beyond its expected lifespan.

Financial Aid and Defense Collaboration through Drone Deal

Finland is also pledging a €50 million loan through the World Bank Group program aimed at Ukraine’s reconstruction and economic stabilization. President Zelensky emphasized,

"Seven documents have been signed, with today's agreements totaling €300 million."

He highlighted collaboration with Nokia and ICEYE, underlining the critical support for logistics and energy sectors targeted by ongoing Russian attacks.

Additionally, on September 23, 2026, the presidents of Ukraine and Finland signed the Drone Deal, enhancing defense and security cooperation. Zelensky expressed gratitude for the support, stating,

"Thank you for your readiness to assist with our logistics and energy sectors-these are prime targets for Russia currently. Increasing the number of locomotives, energy equipment, and protective funding will truly strengthen us."

These agreements demonstrate a robust partnership between Ukraine and Finland in vital areas, aiming to bolster Ukraine’s economic stability and security amid ongoing challenges.

The collaboration opens new avenues for advancing technology and infrastructure critical during the conflict. The deployment of satellite technologies offers Ukraine enhanced capabilities for real-time monitoring and strategic defense planning. Meanwhile, financial aid through loans supports the country’s economic resilience, a key component for its recovery and long-term stability.

As Ukraine strengthens its defense capabilities, discussions with Finnish leadership continue to play a pivotal role.
