Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia

According to МЗС: Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis held talks with Andris Pildegovičs, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine. The discussion centered on key bilateral issues, including the outcomes of the Ukraine–Nordic and Baltic Countries summit, which took place on June 9 in Tallinn.

On the sidelines of that summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs. During those negotiations, a Drone Deal agreement was signed between Ukraine and Latvia, marking a deepening of cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko made a working visit to the Republic of Latvia on June 1–2, where further bilateral contacts were discussed.

Agreements and Energy Cooperation

Furthermore, the meeting yielded an agreement on restoring and protecting Ukraine’s energy system. A schedule for upcoming bilateral engagements was also set, underscoring the importance of continued progress in Ukraine–Latvia relations. These developments come amid heightened security challenges and a shared focus on energy independence, which are critical priorities for both countries.

The signing of the Drone Deal and the energy system agreements reflect a mutual commitment to strengthening the partnership and working together in key areas. This also signals an intensification of bilateral ties within the broader European context, which could positively impact regional stability.

The recent Drone Deal signed by Zelenskyy during the summit in Estonia illustrates the ongoing commitment between Latvia and Ukraine to enhance their defense collaboration. This agreement is a significant step in their efforts to address mutual security concerns and showcases the strengthening of ties in various sectors, including energy independence and military cooperation.
