Ukraine strikes oil terminal in St. Petersburg
Українські сили завдали удару по нафтопереробному комплексу в Санкт-Петербурзі в день, коли проходив економічний форум влади РФ.

Strike on Russian Facilities

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the St. Petersburg oil terminal and other targets inside Russia were hit during the night of June 3. The attack coincided with the opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a major event attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Zelensky,

“there are good results from our long-range sanctions carried out by the warriors of the SBU, SBS, SSO, HUR, and DPSU. Important targets on Russian territory were struck tonight. Among them is the St. Petersburg oil terminal.”

Key Details of the Attack

Carried out approximately 1,100 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border, the operation also hit military assets at the Kronstadt naval base. A facility in the Tambov region, involved in weapons production and located nearly 600 kilometers from the front line, was also damaged. The fire at the St. Petersburg oil terminal spread to part of its tank farm, as confirmed by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov. He also reported that three drones were shot down over the city during the attack.

The units involved in the operation included:

  • SBU
  • SBS
  • SSO
  • HUR
  • DPSU

While the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was underway-an event where President Putin was expected to appear-the city had already faced a drone attack the night before. Zelensky praised the accuracy of Ukrainian forces, stating,

“Ukraine’s long-range sanctions plan is being executed exactly as needed to bring peace closer. Glory to Ukraine!”

This overnight strike against Russian assets marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Occurring simultaneously with a high-profile international forum, the attack underscores Ukraine’s growing strategic capabilities and may influence regional political dynamics. As the war continues, such actions could reshape bilateral relations and prompt new responses from the global community regarding events in both Ukraine and Russia.

In a related development, the Ukrainian Security Service has successfully targeted a Russian oil station and gas terminal, further demonstrating the effectiveness of Ukraine's military strategy.
