New procedure for opening bus routes in Ukraine

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: A new procedure for opening bus routes has been introduced in Ukraine, which transfers the process to a digital format. This innovation aims to reduce bureaucracy and shorten the time needed to open new routes. From now on, from idea to the start of transportation, only two months may pass, significantly increasing the efficiency of domestic bus transportation.

The order of the Ministry of Development has been registered with the Ministry of Justice, which indicates the official start of the new system. For more than 11 years, no new domestic routes have been opened in Ukraine, so this innovation is an important step in the development of transport infrastructure. Opening routes will take place through the Unified Comprehensive Information System (UCIS), which will ensure transparency and speed of the process.

Process of opening a new route

To open a new route, it is necessary to submit four electronic documents, and the form of the electronic passport of the route will be available online. Oleksiy Kuleba, a government representative, emphasized the importance of domestic bus transportation, noting that it is:

“About the basic mobility of people: the ability to get to work, hospital, or education.” - Oleksiy Kuleba

He also noted that:

“We are moving away from paper and opaque procedures and transitioning to a digital model, where a route can be created and launched quickly and clearly.” - Oleksiy Kuleba

The introduction of the new procedure for opening bus routes in Ukraine is an important step towards modernizing the transport system, which can significantly improve the accessibility of transportation for the population. Digitalization of this process will not only simplify procedures for carriers but also provide regions with the opportunity to develop their transport infrastructure, in conditions where it was previously complicated by bureaucratic barriers. The successful implementation of this initiative could serve as an example for other areas of public administration, where technological innovations also need to be introduced to increase efficiency and transparency.
