New Autonomous Turret Enters Combat Use

According to Главком: Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced the combat deployment of a new autonomous turret equipped with artificial intelligence, developed under the Brave1 cluster. This system is designed to destroy hostile drones that remain immune to electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures. Operating in a semi-autonomous mode, the turret can independently detect a target, track it, and calculate its trajectory. The operator only needs to confirm the shot by pressing a single button.

Modern Threats and Future Prospects

The new system was built in response to current threats, as occupying forces use drones controlled via fiber-optic cables, rendering them resistant to EW. The turret's key feature is its ability to work in a semi-autonomous manner. Since it relies on optical recognition and physical destruction of the target, the drone's control method is irrelevant. The K-2 brigade soldiers were the first to test the innovation, and AI-powered turrets are now operational in over 10 frontline units.

The Defense Ministry's next step is mass production of these systems to bolster small-scale air defense. Minister Fedorov stated:

“Collaboration with Brave1 has allowed us to drastically shorten the path from engineers' ideas to finished products in the trenches.”

Another important aspect of the Defense Ministry's work was Fedorov's recent working trip to Oslo, where he met with top Norwegian officials and participated in a NORDEFCO meeting. The visit resulted in a new aid package and discussions on countering Russian oil revenues.

The introduction of this new autonomous turret highlights the rapid advancement of technology within Ukraine's armed forces, meeting modern battlefield challenges. Boosting air defense effectiveness through artificial intelligence could significantly shift the conflict's balance of power.
