Ukraine demands the removal of Russian figure skaters from the 2026 Olympics
Ukraine has appealed to the IOC and the International Skating Union to reconsider the decision to allow Russian figure skaters to participate in international competitions. The letter states that the actions of these athletes contradict the principles of neutrality established by the IOC for representatives of aggressor countries.
The authors of the appeal - President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadym Guttsait, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidny and President of the Figure Skating Federation of Ukraine Serhiy Brodovych - urged the IOC and ISU to conduct a fact-check and, if violations are confirmed, to suspend the athletes from participating in international competitions.
The NOC of Ukraine has confirmed the country's unwavering position: athletes who support aggression against Ukraine cannot participate in international competitions while the war continues.
