Ukrainians are massively receiving 'winter support' in frontline regions: what is the number
More than 280 thousand Ukrainian families in frontline regions have already received compensation for electricity under the state program 'Winter Support'. This is assistance aimed at easing the harsh winter season for families living in high-risk zones. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Winter support: how compensation works
Under the program, the state compensates electricity consumption every month:
-
100 kWh per family member;
-
but no more than 300 kWh per household.
The program started on October 1 and will operate throughout the entire cold season. Payments are made together with subsidies or benefits - automatically, without any applications or requests. The mechanism is simplified so that assistance is received quickly and without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What other payments are included in 'Winter Support'
The government initiative for 2025 consists of several areas of assistance. It includes:
-
a one-time payment of 1000 UAH for all Ukrainians;
-
one-time assistance of 6500 UAH for the most vulnerable categories;
-
the future 'Ukrzaliznytsia' program - 3000 free kilometers for travel within the country.
The pilot railway project is expected to launch in December on routes in frontline regions.
Earlier, the government made a decision to compensate electricity for residents of border communities in the Sumy region, who also face regular shelling.
It is reminded that more than 150 thousand Ukrainians have already applied for 'Winter 6500'.
