Approximately 83% of those surveyed maintain connections with relatives, friends, or acquaintances overseas. Among them, 69% occasionally receive gifts from these loved ones.
Frequency and Occasions for Receiving Gifts
When it comes to how often gifts arrive, 21% of respondents get them several times a year, 20% receive gifts annually, and 14% less frequently. The most common occasions for sending presents include:
- Birthdays (58%)
- Just because, without special reason (46%)
- New Year or Christmas holidays (37%)
- Mother’s or Father’s Day (5%)
- Weddings or wedding anniversaries (3%)
The types of gifts Ukrainians most often get from abroad are:
- Food and sweets (53%)
- Clothing or footwear (40%)
- Money (35%)
- Souvenirs (24%)
- Cosmetics or perfumes (19%)
- Electronic devices or gadgets (19%)
- Medicines or vitamins (18%)
Looking ahead, respondents expressed preferences for gifts they would like to receive: 38% favor money, 26% prefer clothing or shoes, 24% are interested in electronics or gadgets, and 22% would like food and sweets. This highlights the valuable role these gifts play in Ukrainian households and their significance beyond mere material value.
