Accumulating Pension Experience for Ukrainians Abroad

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainians living outside their country can accumulate insurance experience for retirement through a voluntary participation mechanism in the pension insurance system. The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region has provided clarification regarding this opportunity.

This mechanism is available to all citizens registered in the Register of Insured Persons who are not pensioners. It is important to note that there is the possibility of paying contributions on behalf of third parties, specifically:

  • Children can make payments for their parents.

Currently, the minimum insurance contribution is 1902.34 UAH, which is 22% of the minimum wage, amounting to 8647 UAH. In European currency, this sum is approximately 36 euros. Monthly payment of the minimum amount ensures the accrual of insurance experience for the corresponding month. Thus, Ukrainians abroad have the opportunity to maintain their pension rights even while being far from their homeland.

The Importance of the Initiative

This initiative is an important step for Ukrainian citizens who, due to various circumstances, are forced to live outside the country. The voluntary participation mechanism in pension insurance allows not only for saving up for retirement but also ensures financial stability in the future. It also emphasizes the state's commitment to support its citizens, regardless of their location.
