Ukrainian Driver Detained in Poland for Excessive Speed

According to Главком: A 23-year-old Ukrainian woman living in Warsaw was stopped by Polish police after being caught driving at nearly 200 km/h. The incident occurred on the S12/S17 expressway heading toward Warsaw. She told officers she was rushing because she was late for a scheduled manicure appointment at a beauty salon.

The woman was driving a Mercedes at approximately 200 km/h in a zone with a 120 km/h speed limit. For this violation, she received a fine of 2,500 Polish zloty (roughly equivalent to 30,264 Ukrainian hryvnias) and was also penalized with 15 penalty points on her driving record. Driving at such speeds on European highways is exceptionally dangerous and poses a severe risk to all road users.

Traffic Regulations and Penalties in Poland

It is important to note that if a driver commits a similar offense again within two years, the fine can increase to 5,000 zloty. This incident also comes as the Polish government is preparing new regulations concerning vehicles with foreign registration plates.

This case underscores the critical importance of obeying traffic laws, especially in light of increasing penalties for violations.

Ongoing legislative changes in Poland may significantly impact drivers with foreign-registered vehicles, as authorities aim to enhance road safety. Drivers who commit repeated offenses can expect to face much more serious financial consequences, serving as a stark warning to others about the need for caution on the roads.
