Ukrainian Woman Launches 24/7 Ukrainian Music Radio in Germany
Meet Tetiana Voloshyna and Svoe Radio
According to Міністерство соц. політики: After the full-scale invasion began, Tetiana Voloshyna-a seasoned educator with years of experience in Ukraine's radio industry-relocated from Kyiv to Germany with her children and parents. In Göttingen, she launched Svoe Radio, a 24/7 online station dedicated to Ukrainian music, funded entirely out of her own pocket. Her brother handled the technical side remotely from Kyiv, building the website, app, and broadcasting infrastructure.
Svoe Radio's Slogan and Philosophy
Svoe Radio operates under the slogan: 'Your sound, your echo in Germany.' The station plays Ukrainian hits, tracks from emerging artists, and a mix of genres ranging from pop to indie and pop-rock. The core principle for song selection is that each track should evoke a sense of home. Currently, the station reaches listeners in over 60 German cities, helping create a shared sense of community among Ukrainians living abroad.
Tetiana Voloshyna remarked:
'When the same song plays, people in different cities-Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg-listen to it at the same time. Everyone may have their own associations, but the emotions are often similar. And that creates a sense of togetherness. It unites us.'
Around Svoe Radio, a Ukrainian community is gradually taking shape, bringing people together through music and shared experiences.

The launch of Svoe Radio marks a significant step in preserving Ukrainian culture and identity among those who have found themselves outside their homeland. At a time when many are seeking emotional support and a connection to their native culture, initiatives like this help maintain a sense of home and belonging-a need that feels especially urgent given today's challenges. This project could serve as a model for other Ukrainians abroad, inspiring them to create similar platforms for community and cultural support.
