The 'Vivaldi' Campaign

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The Third Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is currently conducting the 'Vivaldi' operation in Donetsk Oblast, which has proven to be highly effective. By the end of September 2026, Ukrainian forces had reclaimed up to 176 square kilometers of territory. However, President Volodymyr Zelensky estimates that the actual liberated area ranges between 125 and 140 square kilometers as of now.

Russian troop losses have surged to 42,000 over the past month alone. Earlier this year, Zelensky reported average monthly Russian casualties of 30,000 to 32,000 personnel, including 21,000 to 22,000 killed, with the remainder severely wounded. He emphasized:

"Currently, we are talking about 42,000 enemy losses per month."

The president also highlighted the strategic decision to delay the operation by a year, which he believes contributed to stronger results and fewer Ukrainian casualties.

Advancements in Offensive Operations

According to Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps, Russian forces were caught off guard by Ukraine's assault, underscoring the surprise and efficiency of the offensive. Notably, the 'Vivaldi' operation marks the first use of ground robotic systems by the Third Army Corps, deployed for both mine clearance and assault tasks.

President Zelensky visited the Lyman sector to observe the command post of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave, which is actively engaged in the operation. This brigade plays a crucial role in the ongoing advances within Donetsk Oblast.

The operation continues to progress, demonstrating the increasing operational effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in retaking occupied territories.

'Vivaldi's' success not only reflects Ukraine's military strength but also showcases the armed forces' strategic adaptability and commitment to incorporating cutting-edge technology. The introduction of robotic units highlights Ukraine's drive toward modernizing its military capabilities and enhancing combat efficiency. Additionally, the reduction in Ukrainian troop casualties signals improvements in battlefield tactics, which could significantly influence the future trajectory of the conflict in the region.

As the 'Vivaldi' operation continues to yield significant territorial gains, it is essential to recognize the broader context of Ukraine's military efforts. Recently, Ukrainian forces successfully initiated a counteroffensive in the northern part of Donetsk, resulting in the liberation of numerous settlements. This strategic move not only complements the ongoing advancements in the 'Vivaldi' campaign but also highlights the resilience and determination of Ukrainian troops.
